Being
Green
It
is easy to be green!
There
are many ways for a publisher to be green and environmentally friendly.
We consistently strive to make our carbon footprint as small as possible.
1)
First we don’t do
large print runs. This means trees
aren’t wasted in books that sit on the shelves and are not
sold.
2)
Ebooks: Since our inception in 1997 we have been
producing ebooks. We believe that ebooks are an important aspect of the
future
of publishing and our planet. Ebooks are easy to read and use very
little of
our planets resources.
3)
We don’t accept paper manuscripts. Again keeping the work
digital allows us to honor our wonderful trees.
4)
We don’t use CD’s and DVD’s as our back
ups. Our back-ups
are done on secure drives that can be rewritten many times.
5)
Print ready work is transmitted to printers via
electronic transfers.
6)
Editing is done on the computer thus saving reams of
paper every month.
7)
We recycle all of our equipment in a manner that is
environmentally savvy.
8)
We use equipment as long as possible keeping our
processes as simple as possible. This keeps us from consuming unneeded
resources.
9)
All paper, bottles, and materials are recycled in our
offices.
10)
Machines, equipment and lights are all turned off when
they are not being used.
We
hope you will join us in our endeavors as a green
publisher.
